- Minimum age for volunteers is 16 years of age, as of March 1, 2017
- Attend Orientation session prior to the event.
- Commit to a total of 16 hours in volunteer shifts over the course of the event
Volunteers Job Descriptions:
Volunteers will work at the accreditation table, assisting with volunteer accreditation distribution during the event
Volunteers will assist in ceremony execution (opening, closing, player of the game). Duties will include greeting event partners upon arrival at the venue and escorting them to the waiting area as well as ceremony preparation and set-up.
Volunteers will support the execution of on-court intermission activities and sponsor activations
Volunteers will support all media operations throughout the venue. This position includes a range of media activity including media workroom, press table, broadcast, and statistics distribution. Individuals prepared to learn the ins and outs of media operations and work in a fast-paced environment will find this role suited for them.
Team hosts will be the main point of contact and provide support to their team from the time of arrival to the time of departure, on a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week basis. Hosts will assist with managing their team’s food and beverages, transportation, communications, and be required to travel throughout the HRM area. The structure is for each of the 8 teams to be supported by two (2) team hosts.
Volunteers will provide front-line support for the teams at the competition and training venues. Volunteers will assist in dressing room set-up by stocking beverages, equipment supplies, and snacks. They will assist in the coordination of laundry services and equipment transfers. This is an all-hands-on-deck, do-anything-to-ensure-success kind of role.
Volunteers will drive clients such as VIPs and media between venues. A vehicle pool will be supplied by the championship and supported by a dispatch centre at the venue. Individuals applying to work in transportation will be required to submit a driver’s abstract.
VIP Hosts will manage the VIP lounge by looking after set-up and tear-down, VIP info, access control, coat check, and food and beverages. Volunteers will welcome and host VIPs.
Volunteers will support the execution of the volunteer program for all event volunteers. This position includes a range of volunteer activities including training sessions, welcome centre supervision and operations, and the volunteer apparel program.
Volunteers will support the events facility manager in all aspects of Final 8 operations at the Scotiabank Centre.
